Europe 2005

Friends,

Things are going well and very busy on this tour. I have been here just short of two weeks and have played nearly every day and often more than once. I started in Garmisch in southern Germany in Bavaria and then went on to Stuttgart where I did concerts and a youth program and reunited with many friends from past tours.

I am in Belgium now having just left the Netherlands yesterday and fighting a bad sinus cold. I have lost my voice and am supposed to do a concert tonight. I have no idea how it is going to go, but I will trust that Lord that His purposes for ministry will prevail.

I fly to Italy on Monday and will have a day off somewhere in there to rest a little. Please pray that I can keep my health in good condition and rest well everywhere I go. In between concerts is when there has been a lot of incredible ministry time with folks that I meet that are in the service, families of servicemen and women and chaplains. It is such an honor to serve in this capacity.

Spring has sprung, and it seems time has not even allowed me to hardly even take a breath, and I am off again! So – c’mon with me on this next trip as I return to Europe April 17th under an Army Contract to minister to our troops and families along-side our dedicated Army Chaplain Corps.

I will be gone touring eight weeks with the Army to every Area Support Group (ASG) in Europe. It will be great meeting new people and re-uniting with old friends throughout my time. Please check out the new itinerary posted on the Tour Dates link. I will be at bases in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Italy.

Yes – I did thaw out after returning from Alaska, but hit the ground running with spring preparations and engagements. Among some House Concerts hosted locally, I returned for my fifth year to University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown, PA where my great friend Jim Gay is campus minister. It was a wonderful time with the students in concert, one-on-one, and in teaching sessions.

I also just returned this week from speaking at a youth retreat at Bonclarken in Flat Rock, NC with 1st ARP of Gastonia where my buddy Alex Pettett – Citadel Class of ’96 – is youth pastor. We looked at “Knowing Him” - a topic which has deeply challenged me in recent weeks. I left for Summerville, SC on Sunday and played at Bethany United Methodist Church that evening and had a wonderful time with my new friends there.

As Summer approaches and the colors and blossoms of Spring announce warmer days, I will leave my beloved South Carolina and all my friends once again. I covet your prayers as I travel and ask that you pray that God be glorified in my role in ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the teaching of His Word and the encouragement brought through my songs.

Thawing Out in South Carlina

Thank you so much for your prayers during my Arctic/Alaskan journey.
Thanks too for your messages on the road.

It is good to be home, but lingering memories of new friends, times of
ministry, and unbelievable experiences remain. God was faithful to
continue to teach me incredible lessons through His Sovereign hand's mighty
work through broken vessels.

After leaving Anchorage, I spent time with SEND International in
Glennallen and with students from the Alaskan Bible College. This was not
only a rich time in buliding new relationships and fellowshiping in
the Word, but a time providing some needed rest personally and
opportunity to see some more of God's beautiful handiwork in His
creation.

My last week was full of outreach and concerts at Eielson AFB and Ft
Greely Army installation reconnecting with old acquantances and
forging new friendships with brothers and sisters in Christ. Our
retreat at Birch Lake afforded the opportunity to share Christ's
message of hope with some soldiers searching to know the truth of the
gospel and others desiring deeper growth in their relationship with
the Lord.

I am home now and pressing onward into my March schedule of venues
here in South Carolina, as well as Pennsylvania and North Carolina. I
am continuing to schedule the remainder of 2005 - so contact us for
booking, and I'll drop on in and pick a song or two.

The Alaska Bush & Beyond

Hello friends!

Thanks for all your prayers for me and my schedule while I have been here in Alaska. I have just left my two weeks in the Bush of western Alaska - and what an experience it was! My expectations were met with more than I could have imagined. Things went very well there, and I forged some great new friendships with brothers and sisters in Christ! I traveled from village to village in either small aircraft or on snow machine down rivers and through streams frozen over by the extreme
cold. The temperatures stayed well below zero for most of my time there capping off at -33 the day I returned to Anchorage.

I now understand better the prayer and support our missionaries and Christian friends need in far-reaching areas within our own borders. Keep Bill and Wanda Wilson in your prayers as they minister to folks along the Kuskaquam River. the Wilsons are with SEND International and were my host family in the bush.

Along with the extreme conditions of arctic winters, however, comes some fun and memorable events - namely trapping. I got to experience running a trap line with a couple of brothers 35 miles into the wilderness in sub-zero weather for about 15 hours. Word of Warning!! - if you even decide to buy really warm boots, make sure you shop outside of South Carolina. (Draw your own conclusions there!) I was amazed by the beauty of God's creation and the adaptability of man to its various
conditions. It was an experience I will not soon forget!

I just spent two days in Anchorage where I did music in a Christian School and reconnected with a "neighbor in the sky" - Steve Alden - who I met on a flight from Seattle. He is a great Christian brother with a wonderful family, and I look forward to spending more time and laughter with them in the future.

I just arrived in Glennallen today after not being able to fly yesterday due to weather. I will do a house concert tonight for the
SEND missionary staff and then a chapel service at the Alaska Bible College Tuesday morning before heading to Clear AFS near Fairbanks. There is lots of snow, and I will be driving for most of the remainder of this trip. Pray that I don't have any sudden meetings with moose - they tend to own the roads!
